My work is about firsthand experience of what I see. It is a direct response to what I see. I search for shapes, form, depth, fluid passage of light tone and colour. Through the process of investigating the subject, the content emerges. Although the subjects in the paintings vary enormously – they are nevertheless all STILL LIFE. In this situation these are the things that provide me with a vehicle to explore the way in which I can use my drawing and painting materials – and it is this which is more recognisable as the subject or content of my work.
